Caroline Pope, MS, RD, LDN, Owner
Caroline opened Chain Effect with her husband, Taylor, and she returned working here in 2019. She spent the previous 3+ wonderful years at NC Surgery Rex Bariatric Specialists, which granted her extensive exposure to a highly complex and varied population. She followed patients before and after surgery, identifying and correcting vitamin and protein deficiencies, and provided evidence-based meal planning. Equally important, she helped her patients untangle how their eating habits were triggered by their relationship with food.
To say the least, understanding the “why” that drives her patients has become a hallmark of her treatment philosophy. What she will NOT do is guilt you over foods you enjoy and decisions you make, or tell you simply “eat this, not that.” While she continues to enjoy helping patients with weight loss, she is excited to expand upon her interests in perinatal care (new mommy), autoimmune disease, and other areas of functional medicine.
Caroline is a Registered Dietitian with a Master of Science in Nutrition from Meredith College and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from UNC Chapel Hill. She has been practicing since 2015.
Eddie Fitzgerald, RD, LDN
Eddie is a Registered Dietitian with a Bachelor of Science in Food and Nutrition from Appalachian State University. Over the last decade, Eddie has struggled with body image issues and injuries of his own. When in high school, he went to his coach because he felt terrible and his coach asked, “What have you eaten today?” In that moment, he realized the importance of nutrition and how much it affects the body.
Eddie began prepping all of his own meals and learning everything he could about the science of nutrition. He believes the way we eat can change how we feel both physically and emotionally as well as promote the healing of injuries and allow us reach new levels of athletic performance.
With all the information out there these days, it can be easy to become overwhelmed and unsure of what is best for you. That is where Eddie comes in. He’s done the ketogenic diet, been a vegan for 6 months, experimented with intermittent fasting techniques and continues to explore different approaches to nutrition in order to provide both a professional and personal insight.
With one-on-one counseling and an individualized nutrition plan, you can continue to eat foods that you love and reach your goals. Together, you will work to create long-lasting behavior changes and diet modifications that will provide an overall healthier lifestyle.
